Site Audit

I began this case study by navigating through the EY Seren website and carefully looking at the user experience. A few key factors I focused on were the user flow, brand coherency and functionality of elements and pages.

I used Miro to take notes as I navigated through the website. These notes included some design suggestions that would help align the Seren site with the main EY site.

EY Analysis 2-01.png

 Yellow tag has no context

(Needs to indicate function)

e.g when hovering a description appears

Header Image / video?  "Humanise content"

“Come Join Us” Could be more visually appealing as a CTA type banner?

"Come join us" should be towards the bottom to create a better user flow and built a full picture of EY Seren.

More context to each section / direct

 each Section should have examples

of implementation.

More info buttons at the bottom of each section.

Make the elements interactive? E.g. mouse cursor hovering, animates the shapes.

Collapsible menu is good for space management and to not be overbearing with information.

Button that links to case studies for the services.

"Our thinking" banner could be more aligned with the main EY website and UI?

Image and Title are not aligned to the other titles or body text.

This button is confusing and doesn't look clickable.

This button may be confusing as it doesn't look clickable.

The lower text, hovering the blue background should change to white so it is clearer and easier to read whilst rotating.

Summarising my notes

After going through the website I then summarised the key insights that were highlighted from my notes, to give me a clearer focus when designing.

Brand coherency

User flow

Interactivity

Brand Coherency

EY has a strong visual language that is bold, clean and draws interest. The design utilises great spacing, beautiful and sharp images and simple user flow. Something that stood out to me was the transitioning of pages and subtle animation of elements when hovered or clicked on.

The flow of the website should inform the user in a structured manner that starts with the brand, services, team, case studies. EY Seren could possibly benefit from content restructuring.

User Flow

There were elements on the EY Seren that were engaging.

Being a design and engineering consultancy, I think more examples of this throughout the site would be more engaging for the users and add to the discovery of the design.

Interactivity

Ideating

After getting a good idea of Seren's current functionality and design I started sketching a number of ideas.

Primarily focusing on how I could organise and tidy all of the sections of the site neatly in a minimal and clean manner, that would align with the EY brand both through it's function and visual design.
